Door Aurora, 2022

30cm x 20cm

Harald Fairhair was a handsome Viking and the first king of Norway. When he was a young man, he fell in love with a princess named Ellisif. Getting rejected for not being important enough, Harald decided to make himself king of all of Norway to get her affection. He succeeded and became the first king to claim sovereignty over all Norway. Harald then married his love. He holds his Sword of Justice, wears a ruby ring, a symbol of monarchy and has a tattoo of a medieval rune on his cheek. It represents the letter H.

Over Aurora

My artist name is Aurora after the Goddess of Light, the Bringer of Dawn after the dark night of the soul. I’m an Amsterdam-based artist, all my works are oil paintings on canvas as I paint images in the tradition of magical realism with loads of symbolism and using the traditional oil painting techniques of the old Dutch masters.
